Simone Linehan - Mixed Media Artist/Illustrator
Simone Linehan is an Australian artist born in 1973 living in Adelaide. In 1989 she started her career in graphic design and illustration, first working for local design studios then in 1996 she began her freelance career. Her client focus was on Arts based organisations such as State Theatre Company, Adelaide Chamber Singers and the Australian String Quartet just to name a few.
Her first solo painting exhibition was in 2007 and has had several smaller and group exhibitions since then, along side raising two sons and running her business. The combination of graphic design, illustration, teaching and painting has given Simone a broad range of art experiences and knowledge.
In 2008 to further embrace her love of visual arts she added a children’s art class business to the side of this successful design career. Four years later she opened her art studio for adults, now a thriving hub of activity in the Adelaide Hills specialising in mixed media and expressive art making.
In 2018 she gained her Art Therapy Diploma, as art was becoming a precious tool for wellbeing in her students. Around this time she began painting murals which can be seen in local businesses and schools.
Predominately a self taught painter, Simone expresses her passion for character, human and otherwise, in acrylic, watercolour, oils and mixed media. Her quirky characters capture real and imagined, being influenced, from a very young age, by the likes of Jim Hensen (the Muppets) and Maurice Sendak (Where The Wild Things Are). She sees the world from a place of colour, creativity and playfulness.
Currently exhibiting at the Fleurieu Arthouse, McLaren Vale, local restaurants and cafes she enjoys a healthy mix of teaching and creating.
